This is my final typeface. The typeface is based on the black
lettering of the Nazi Propaganda posters. This design has been refined as the
image below demonstrates to get to my outcome. I’ve tied multiple versions of
this typeface, from the standard, to exaggerated serif, to just serif with no
thick horizontal or vertical strokes. This typeface is made up of a series of 3
shapes at varying sizes. The typeface comes in a body and a header version. The
header version is deconstructed to allow negative space to flow freely through the
letterforms and demonstrate how the typeface Is made up of independent, self-standing
shapes.

Studio Brief 3- Development
I began to develop my ideas and put them into digital format. I looked at how I making them
digital would affect how they look and how I could make them different from
their sketches.
Studio Brief 3- Research
I looked at various artists to help give me a better understanding
of the work and others typographic ideas, I looked at Emily Scofield’s
situationist typography. Her work is meant to distort the meaning of typography
she creates, trying to manipulate the meaning of words by their appearance. El Lissitzky’s art pieces consist of varying shapes
and colours and are very abstract. These helped me gain a better understanding
of how I could interpret my word “independent” and convey that in my
typography.
