The floor plan of the exhibition is based on the shape and reel of a cassette tape and the A side B side configuration the tapes are usually associated with. The floor plan consists of a small entrance room that explains the exhibition and the works inside, with space to hand out the catalogues which are designed with the same rules as the rest of the branding. The main rooms of the exhibition are split into an A side and B side. The rooms are set up to gradually take you through the exhibition in a free flowing path similar to that of the movement of the cassette reel. The floor plan is open and airy to allow the pieces to be lit well and to make sure the space doesn’t feel cramped.
The display pieces of the exhibition are designed to allow the public to view the pieces from all angles, being made from DIY materials such as wood, plastics and metal. The use of multiply materials represent the coming together of all the micro genres in he exhibition space and the nature of materials reflect the mechanical and often DIY nature music making has, it also reflects the mechanical workings of the innards of a cassette tape. The display pieces vary in size from being able to display singular pieces of work at a time to 3 or more. The display pieces all vary in design to communicate the variation in micro-genres and will be placed in a fashion that resembles the cassette reels inside a tape.
Our social media outlets intent to advertise the exhibition both prior and during the exhibitions open dates, with a daily countdown animation counting down that days to opening, various imagery and illustrative elements relevant to the exhibition and works displayed. The social media uses the same colour scheme as the rest of the exhibition.
Our poster designs use the grid system of a common j-card design, while incorporating the same colour scheme used through the rest of the branding. The posters are both typographic and image based, using distorted imagery across all poster designs to communicate the characteristics of sound defects.
Our invitations come in the form of cassette tapes and cases which come with a C60 sticker set to give the receiver the ability to customize it inside with a j-card design using the same colour scheme and distorted imagery. The j-card invitees contain all essential information regarding the exhibition.
