Publication Subject Matter Ideas

After consideration of the ideas I have I’m struggling to find a clear route to go down. My main ideas for the publication are as follows:

-Can neon signage convey or make the viewer feel emotion?

-Do I centre the publication around a specific emotion that can be conveyed through neon or a collection of various emotion, split into chapters?

-Do I look at an emotion such as Despair? Through the publication and imagery document the emotion of despair with broken, old, dilapidated neon signage?

-Document the craft of neon signage?

-Do I look more into the actual manufacturing process of the neon signage, how it works and incorporate various elements of the crafting process into my publication with imagery, type, printing techniques, physical elements, chemical elements etc?

-Look into the craft of the neon signage, “Behind the Lights.” Not only document the making of neon signage but things such as the wiring, cathodes, switches etc, things that usually get ignored when the viewer sees/takes photos of the signage?

-Document the design stage of neon signage?

-Use the publication to document technical drawings, rough sketches, coloured drawings, prototypes of various neon signage?

After thinking more in depth about my chosen subject matter and wanting to produce a publication that isn’t generic I’ve found myself with more questions than answers and ideas.
