Quick Initial Poster Designs

I started playing with varying type based logos which we could then further the develop the rest of the brand around. I tried various san serif typefaces but thought the type in context would look rather plain and lifeless. Despite sans serif holding information well I wasn’t happy with using any san serif type for the main logotype for our brand. I wanted something striking and something that would jump out to the reader.

I came across the typeface Bookmania and began to test some initial ideas in context. The type seemed to work really well and contrasted other test I’d played with, especially using sans serif type. The type seemed formal enough to correctly advertise an exhibition while playful enough that it didn’t seem to corporate or old fashioned. The type was a thin serif type with sharp headers and footers that in context worked really nicely with heavy negative space and contrasting the sort of soft, flat negative space in a variation of colour ways.
