I test printed and perfect bound an early version of my publication to see how it would turn out using a perfect bind with that paper stock. I used a high gloss stock with a high GSM for the content and for test purposes I tried a contrasting satin stock that was a lower GSM. The test went wrong as seen on the photos. I ended up using too much glue for the bind, so weakened the structure of the cove and spine. The glue actually ended up staining the high gloss stock a mucky yellow where it bled, ruining the paper. I still want to keep a perfect bind in mind as I feel it’s a higher quality finish than pamphlet binds, looking a lot cleaner, well finished and well produced.
