I decided to try and look at someone who I could relate to both architecture and design and someone who practiced minimalism in both. I looked more into Donald Judd.
His minimalism pieces are well known as an artist and a designer but lesser known as an architect. Architectural digest has a really good article on the exhibition at the New York Centre for Architecture featuring the architectural works of Judd. The exhibition showcased 5 of Judds pieces from sketches to realised model and rendered form.
The minimalist vision of Judds architectural pieces are clear and some of his works are clearly influenced by his minimalist works as both artist and designer. Judds visons were a stripped back, simple, almost delicate. A really simple, clear approach to architecture, get rid of anything unneeded and designing structures that work with the area around them as oppose to clashing with surroundings.
Its this idea I want to take forward in my design. I want my branding to be simple, stylish, delicate. I want a consistent visual identity that allows for the brands portfolio to do the talking. I want to give power to the portfolio by doing it justice in the form of a strong yet un-intrusive visual identity.
