One of the first poster developments was a focus on specific information relating to the exhibition. The idea was to break up information and deliver it in striking, simple and effective ways. The poster is negative space heavy and with all the poster designs there is a clear focus on typography. All the relative information is displayed across of the bottom of the poster with specific information picked out and displayed larger and aligned top left. The information grabs the viewers’ attention and forces the viewer to interact with the poster more so than usual posters that display all their content consistently. The poster also develops a clear hierarchy with varying type weights and breaks up larger or cluttered spaces of negative space.
The second poster development was using the brand guidelines exactly to produce a style of poster. This uses the correct weights, spacing and hierarchy. These set of posters would still focus on typography and incorporate negative space but would display the information as the guidelines state. The posters still have visual impact by using the negative space and creating stripped back, simple poster that hold information well and still forces the viewer to interact with the poster to gain more information.
The third poster development sees a focus on more experimental typography. The same rules of type hierarchy and all information present being displayed on the bottom of the poster and a focus on negative space. This poster style uses experimental type to attract the viewers attention. The poster is still consistent with other poster styles and the use of the one typeface, the use of the modular grid systems and type guidelines allows for a consistent style across each poster type.
The colour ways used across all posters designs are muted and pastel in tone, subtle and simple but still jump out to the reader. The colours and typography work harmoniously and the contrast of extension theory is taken into consideration making sure all posters are evenly proportioned.
